What is Dry Steam Vapor Cleaning?
Using a dry steam vapor cleaner is similar to traditional cleaning methods
except that these unique machines use only a minute amount of
water and no chemicals. It’s called "dry" because
no water, residue or dampness is left behind on the
surface from the steam.
So, how dry can
it really be? Imagine taking eight minutes to pour
out an 8-oz. glass of water. That's how little moisture
is in the dry steam vapor during normal use. For
industrial cleaning jobs where you are typically using
gallons per minute - this means HUGE water savings.
How do we go from water to
dry steam vapor?
Ordinary tap
water is added to the machine's water tank.
From there water then enters the machine's
electronically heated boiler where it is superheated
under pressure in to culinary grade, saturated, dry
steam vapor and held at a temperature of 290-390º F
(depending on machine model).
How
does it clean and sanitize?
Using a dry
steam cleaning machine and it's various hand-held
attachments, dry steam under controlled pressure leaves
the unit at 220º F and is directed at the surface
to be cleaned and sanitized. The high temperature
of the steam cleans and sanitizes areas simultaneously.
No cleaning or sanitizing agents are needed.
At the point of cleaning a several
things happen:
- Heat. Heat
weakens the physical bond that adheres dirt and
stains to surfaces.
- Moisture.
Nature's most perfect solvent.
- Agitation. This
is applied to the surface being cleaned using an
array of AmeriVap’s unique, customized tools and
attachments. No hard scrubbing is necessary. As
dirt and stain particles are loosened from a
surface, they are suspended in the moisture
resulting from the vapor, making it easy to wipe
away.
- Cotton. Water
always flows in the direction of least resistance.
Cotton towels offer less resistance, and are more
absorbent, than almost any other type of material.
Superheated dry steam vapor passed through a cotton
towel makes the towel hot, but just slightly moist.
The towel then "sucks up" everything that is
suspended in the resulting moisture, and the dirt is
embedded into the fibers of the towel.
What
can dry steam machines clean?
Unlike chemical
cleaners that often remove only surface material,
leaving behind microorganisms, bacteria, or residue, dry
steam vapor cleaners penetrate even the smallest cracks
and crevices removing dirt, grime, and stains thoroughly
from both soft and hard surfaces (including stainless
steel).
A high-quality
steam cleaner can easily melt away mildew and stop mold
before it starts. Removing pet dander, dust, and dust
mites from upholstery and carpets turns into one simple
step. Steam cleaners also help to eliminate odors by
killing bacteria. These machines are also excellent for
cleaning up pet accidents and food spills. The high heat
of the steam draws out the dirt, grease, and grime
quickly and effectively.
